Walker David - 3 Months

Time is flying by and while I'm not able to sit and document as many moments for Walker as I did with Nicolette I did want to pause for a moment and write a few things down. I'm strangely aware that this precious time is going to be gone before I know it. And although in the moment I feel certain that I'll remember these things for ever I know all to well that as time passes by I will slowly forget some of these precious moments and feelings.

Walker, you are 3 months old now. I feel like over the past week or so you have suddenly woken up and are aware of this great big, magical world that we've brought you into. Your smiles are contagious. I can't help but giggle when I hear your sweet (and LOW) chuckles (you have the funniest little low voice that sounds so silly coming from such a sweet little baby). You look at me in a way that no one ever has before. I have never seen such love coming from someone's eyes. I call them your "googely eyes" and I love them. I know someday they'll go away but I hope I never forget the way that sweet look makes me feel. I've tried to capture the "googely eyes" on camera but it's something you don't want to share with anyone else apparently so I'll try to take a mental picture and save it in my mind forever. You've started using your hands much more over the past week. You're grabbing toys and batting your arms at things like crazy. You even managed to pull your own hair the other day…you were not a fan of that. You love to kick your legs…I call you Sir Kicks A Lot because you'll just lay on your back on a blanket and kick your legs nonstop for minutes at a time. You smile the whole time and seem to be quite proud of yourself! You're great at tummy time, I can lay you down on your tummy and sometimes you'll push your head and chest way up and look around and wiggle your legs. You can roll over from tummy to back (when you really want to). But sometimes you just lay your head to the side and relax and are still and quiet. You're an amazing sleeper and have been from the day we brought you home from the hospital. I woke you up every 3-4 (sometimes 5) hours for the first 4 weeks but after that I started letting you sleep longer stretches and by 5 weeks you were regularly sleeping 7 hours at a time. Within another couple of weeks you were regularly up to 8-10 hours a night. It's so strange to me to have a baby who not only sleeps but will put himself to sleep. Although sometimes I really wish you would let me cuddle and snuggle you more before going to sleep I am grateful for the extra rest that you've given me by preferring to put yourself to sleep. After I feed you, I burp you, lay you on your swaddle blanket and talk and smile with you before wrapping you up tight, laying you in your bassinet and saying night night. You look at me with those sweet, googely eyes, blink a few times and are usually asleep pretty quickly. Although just today you've started "talking" quite a bit. You've spent several minutes just talking before falling asleep for your naps and bedtime today. It's sweet to hear you discover your voice. I'm excited to watch you grow up sweet boy but don't want to wish this time away and just wish I could bottle it all up. You're growing SO quickly and I don't want to forget a single thing! xoxo, my sweet boy. Mommy loves you.

12 Month Birthversary - otherwise known as 1st Birthday

July 5th was Nicolette's 1st birthday and she decided to celebrate by sleeping in past 8:00am!  Mommy & Daddy were waiting downstairs patiently for the princess to wake up and as soon as she did we both ran upstairs so that we could wish her a happy birthday together!

Happy baby!
After nursing and breakfast mommy had to hurry and get her into position for her monthly pics so that I could print one out for her birthday party.  I didn't want to cheat and take the picture before her actual birthday so I was definitely doing this at the last minute!  Getting her to even look at the camera was a challenge, not to mention getting her to sit still, leave the sticker on her shirt, face forward and God forbid I hope for a smile!  She's got too much to do to waste time sitting around posing for pictures!

"Seriously mom... "
"OK - I'll give you HALF a grin"

Happy birthday sweet girl!

11 Month Birthversary - Long Legs Edition

Soooooo it's been a whole month since I've posted anything.  #slacker

Today is Nicolette's 11 Month Birthversary and she celebrated by sleeping in until 8am!  She wasn't really feeling the photoshoot today and was a little serious in front of the camera so we just went with it.  As I was flipping back through the photos I couldn't believe how LONG her legs are!!!

Nicolette can wave "hi" and "bye" and can say, "Mama" "Dada" and "Doh" (which means dog - she literally says it pretty much any time she sees a dog) :).  She can put coins in her piggy bank and put things away in her purse.  She learned how to climb the stairs (oh joy!) and I have a hard time keeping her away from stairs anywhere we go. She can turn ANYTHING into a "walking toy" - her high chair, a book, a laundry basket, tupperware, you name it and she can stand for quite a while without holding on to anything. No independent steps yet though, which is fine with mama!

10 Month Birthversary!

Nicolette turned 10 months old on Sunday and I had to try to wrangle her up for another monthly photo shoot.  Lord have mercy that child is all over the place!  At 10 months old, Nicolette is full of energy and getting her to sit still even for a second is not easy!

She is a pro at crawling and loves to pull to standing.  She's testing her balance here and there but not standing on her own unsupported yet.  If you put her in her walker she takes off in a split second.  She's even good at rerouting when she bumps into things or reaches an impasse.  She'll also walk (quickly) when holding on to your fingers and loves her push toys.

Nicolette has not been the greatest eater, we struggle to get her to finish her meals but that will surely improve with time.

In addition to saying "mama" (which she's been saying for months), Nicolette also started saying "dada" yesterday and this past weekend I think she started trying to say "dog".  We're dog sitting for friends and she would look at him and point and each time I would say "DOG".  By Sunday she was pointing and saying "doh".  I'm assuming that this means dog and that my child is a genius.

8 Month Birthversary (mommy's late with her pictures)

Nicolette turned 8 months old last week and mommy had a hard time with it.  Time is going much to quickly!

Nicolette's 7th month was a busy one, she started saying "mama",  got her first tooth and started crawling (BOTH on February 6th, one day after her 7 month birthversary!)  So I've been busy chasing my little peanut around!

Here are a few pictures from our 8 month photoshoot...(sorry for being a little photo crazy...I can't help myself!

The official photo
Standing up now in the glider...that's safe, right?
"I'm gonna get you Elli!"
Debating her escape
Curtains are fun!
And I love this series of photos where she spots mommy and comes crawling over as fast as she can.  Melts my heart!

Look at that sweet toof!
"Hi Mommy!"  I got you!!!!"

Mommy's view...beautiful!
Soooooo happy!

When did she get to be such a big girl?????

7 Months Old!!!! (and crawling, kind of)

Yesterday was Nicolette's 7 month Birthversary!  Pictures were next to impossible because this girl is ready to CRAWL.  As soon as I set her down she pulls forward onto all fours (pretty dangerous in the glider I usually take her pictures in each month).  And it was hard to get a smile because she was irritated that I wasn't letting her pull forward on to her tummy.  She's such a big girl!

At 7 months old Nicolette is starting to crawl, loves avocados, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash, oatmeal fingers (with flax and chia), scrambled egg yolk, and steamed kale.  She wasn't totally wild about green beans, didn't hate them though.  And she wasn't too excited about banana either (we were surprised on that one and will have to try more fruits this month).  She loves blowing raspberries and is making more consonant sounds and babbling.  Her favorite word to say is "agua"....who knew that Nicolette would already be bilingual?  ;-)

February will be a fun month!  Nicolette has a few birthday parties to go to this month...she's quite the socialite!  And I'm off to chase this baby who is scooching around the house...bye!!!!

Happy 6 Month Birthversary Baby!

Today is Nicolette's 6 Month Birthversary!  At 9:20pm, 6 months ago this beautiful little being escaped from my body :)

I am finding that taking pictures of her is getting more and more difficult...Nicolette is almost NEVER still.  You can see from our photo shoot with Ellie the Elephant that she was kind of all over the place.  Nicolette wants to see and touch EVERYTHING!  It's fun to watch her discover "new" things, but the child is doing so at the expense of her naps.  Today she took 3 naps, 1 was close to 45 minutes, 1 was a ere 10-15 minutes and the last was 30 minutes.  Most 6 month olds nap 2-4 hours a day (so I hear)...Nic looks exhausted...keeps rubbing her eyes and is so tired that she can barely sit up on her own but she will NOT stop looking at everything...is this normal???  Someone please tell me that it is a (short) phase...She went down for what I thought was the night at 7:40 pm but now at 8:20 she's up looking around everywhere with her super drowsy eyes...she just won't stop.  She's hasn't been crying or fussy today.  Just a little more cuddly than usual and when she's not playing she looks so, so, so, so sleepy.   try to rock her and cuddle and she whines to sit up and look around...what's a mama to do????

We were supposed to try avocado tonight for her first go at "solids" but she looked so tired that I didn't want to go for it just yet.  I thought it would be best to wait until she's alert and happy to try something new.

Anyway here are some highlights of our Birthversary Photo Shoot!

"Hey!  What's on my shirt???"
"I wonder if I can eat it..."
"Hey!  It comes off!!
"I CAN eat it..."
Rubbing my eyes - "Photo shoots are exhausting."
Chewing on my thumb
Chewing on my toes...
Chewing on my fist...
Rubbing my eyes...I'm getting sleepy

Tossing Ellie around...
"Don't I know you from somewhere?"
Happy girl!
You'll want to note that this all happened in a matter of less than 5 minutes...she really is nonstop!
